今年40周年を迎えた1/700ウォーターライン・シリーズから、38年振りの完全リニューアルを遂げたアオシマ軽巡洋艦「香取型」を取り上げます。練習巡洋艦として誕生した「香取型」の短い生涯をキットレヴューと併せて紹介。また、日本海軍の練習艦隊の歴史についても解説します。

■特集２：駆逐艦 「初春型」 のすべて

1/700ＷＬシリーズから、アオシマの駆逐艦「初春型」を取り上げます。ご存知のとおり「初春型」は、竣工時とその後の復原性能改善工事後で大きくスタイルを変化させますが、アオシマの完全リニューアルキットではこれを見事に作り分け。パーツのトレードにより難しい改造工作なしで、竣工時から最終時までのスタイルを同一フォームで再現することが可能となっています。今回の特集ではこのアオシマのキットを使い、「初春型」の全期間の状態を再現してみます。

■特集３：検証 フジミ1/350 戦艦「扶桑」「山城」

快進撃を続けるフジミの1/350スケールから、最新の戦艦「山城」1943年を速攻レヴュー。これに併せて1/350戦艦「扶桑」1944年も作例紹介、純正の専用エッチングパーツなどを使ったディティールアップなど、製作に当たってのポイントを詳しく解説します。また、この両キットを通して、「扶桑」と「山城」の相違点や大戦中の変化についても検証します。加えて、アオシマから発売となった1/700ＷＬシリーズの戦艦「扶桑」1938年も作例紹介。1/700 艦船（フルハルモデル）シリーズで生まれ変わった「扶桑」のキット内容が、このキットにいかにフィードバックされているかなど検証します。
